Schneider Custom Builders Company History
Jim Schneider (shirtless in photo) on the job site with his father (in red, left) and uncle (light blue shirt) in Livingston, NJ, in 1980. “This was a house we were framing. I’d already been working with him for about eight years by this time. Being the boss’ kid isn’t the easiest position to be in, but it always motivated me,” says Jim.
Jim Schneider literally grew up building houses, working for his father and uncle in New Jersey. It’s ingrained in everything he does and represents the type of knowledge that is only gained through experience. Jim’s approach is based on the work ethic, attention to detail and craftsmanship he learned working alongside his family from the time he was old enough to swing a hammer.
Over the years Jim has created a process for homebuilding that inspires confidence and trust from clients, and results in one-of-a-kind custom homes that are ideally suited to the owner’s needs. Jim and the entire Schneider Custom Builders team never sacrifice quality to get the job done. Instead, they apply careful, consistent planning and communication to every project. The result is the creation of homes that are completed on time, on budget, and that will last for generations.
Meet The Schneider Custom Builders Team
Joey Cavallo started with Schneider Customer Builders as a framer but as a result of his strong people skills and attention to detail, has since moved into a Construction Manager role. As a former tradesman, he's able to connect with our extended family of vendors while also possessing the polish to work with our homeowners to achieve exemplary results. He has lived in Virginia Beach for 25 years, has been married to Heidi for 14 years, has an 11 year old daughter named Ashlyn, and a dog named Ellie. In addition to enjoying time with friends and family in the backyard around the fire pit, Joey and his family spend a lot of time at the dance studio and dance competitions with Ashlyn, an accomplished dancer.
Jill Fox is a special member of our team because she actually began as a client! This means that she knows firsthand the great work that Jim and the SCB staff do. Stationed here through her husband's job in the Navy in 2002, her family fell in love their Larchmont neighborhood in Norfolk. They came back for good in 2007 and bought a home in the neighborhood. Now, Jill provides admin support for Schneider Custom Builders. Many times she is the first person current and potential clients speak to and she takes the responsibilities of providing a great first impression and fantastic customer service very seriously. 'When our clients are building a new home or remodeling, SCB can help them from start to finish. Clients can trust us to treat their project as if it is our own.' In her spare time, Jill enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two daughters, Kayla and Hannah.
With a degree in Construction Management from East Carolina University and a background in architecture study at Florida Atlantic University, Jenna has a well-trained eye for design and beautiful spaces. As the Project Manager at Schneider Custom Builders, she has the perfect skill set to help develop the scope of work for a home project.
Using our innovative Buildertrend software, Jenna communicates with team members, subcontractors and clients throughout the building process regarding material selections, material placement and design refinements. Her favorite thing about the role is that it allows utilizing all parts of her education/career background to accomplish something she’s passionate about: building homes. Jenna loves that we have a team comprised of experts on every phase of the building process and wants potential clients to know that we are prepared and excited to take an any custom home building challenge.
Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Jenna now lives in Poquoson with her husband (and high school sweetheart) Spencer, and their two dogs, Rupert and Maggie. When she’s not at work, Jenna enjoys spending time with her husband on their boat, playing with the dogs, and exploring historical areas around town. Her favorite quote: “Speak softly, and carry a big stick; you will go far.” – Theodore Roosevelt.
